Is A Match Making Agency Reliable?
I would bet that in most of the cases, married people you know have gotten married after they fell in love. But in order to fall in love, they need to have met somewhere. In most cases, this would probably have been through a mutual friend or a mutual hobby or a professional acquaintance. But not everyone has the time or the opportunity to meet people in a surrounding conducive enough to result in fondness of the heart. What do such people do in order to find the right soul mate? Well, if they are like most people nowadays, they use the services of a match making agency.
If you have never heard of a match making agency, you are indeed lucky. If you are happily married and have still never heard of a match making agency, you are luckier still! In fact, it is increasingly rare for people to find their partners without using the services of a match making agency. I had personally never heard of a match making agency till I came across this young fellow who happened to move into my apartment block.
He was an information technology professional and spent most of his time, even during the weekends, hard at work. While I am sure he made a lot of money, it was becoming increasingly clear that the fact that he had nobody to share it with was beginning to bog him down. He did go out on a couple of dates, but since the women never seemed to re-appear, I can only presume that his wooing efforts were nipped in the bud. Which is when he suddenly discovered the answer to all his problems in the Sunday supplement.
One day over a game of tennis, (we often played together on Sundays, which is when he would share the deepest and darkest secrets of his miserable life with me) he told me about this match making agency that he had enrolled in. Now, the phrase match making agency reminded me of the mail order bride phenomenon of the late eighties which did not work out very well for some of the participants. I voiced my concern and he concurred. He told me that initially he too was worried about the match making agency being some sort of shady place. But later, after a visit, his fears were assuaged.
I didn’t count on it but a couple of months later, he was actually going steady with a fine young lady. Nearly a year later, they were married. Three years later, they had their first child. And now, nearly ten years down the line, they still continue to be married and happy together. Now this is something that I can scarcely say about the rest of my acquaintances. A lot of those who actually married for love split up a lot sooner. So I guess it is not the fact whether you go through a match making agency or not. The fact of the matter is, if you are willing to make it work, it surely will. Believe me. My friend is living proof.
